If you are searching for a Church home in the Washington D.C. area we welcome you with joy and gladness. When you worship with us you will observe and learn that we do not hold a formalized creed or statement of faith but instead, rely on the New Testament teachings of Jesus and his Apostles alone for our Doctrine and Worship.
The Apostle Luke said the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (Acts 17:11) Paul in talking about the Gospel said: I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:12).
The Bible teaches that all men are born with a sinful nature, and that all men have sinned and falls short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Paul told the church (saved) at Rome. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17) Remember what Jesus said too... "And if any man hear my words, and believe not... the same shall judge him in the last day." (John 12:47-48) We hear Jesus words by way of the scriptures, which will judge us.
The Bible teaches a faith that inspires obedience, because faith without works is dead (James 2:17) and that a man is justified by (Obedience) works and not by faith alone. (James 2:24) The Gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 15:1-4). In order to obey the Gospel, one must believe that Jesus is the Christ to be saved (John 8:24; John 14:6) we have to confess that Jesus is the Messiah, one has to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (Forgiveness) of sins, and that the redeemed sinner will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). We have fellowship and breaking of the bread (communion) every first day of the week (Acts 2:42).
We invite you to listen to our preacher as he guides us through the scriptures for our encouragement. Come sing with us hymns, spiritual songs, and giving thanks always for all things (Ephesians 5:19). If you have doubts about your salvation, we implore you to humble yourself before God and seek Him.
We are always eager to study the scriptures with you with faith that the Holy Spirit will give enlightenment for those who humbly seek the truth. Jesus told his disciples: When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. John 16:13
